- Establish whether you can still open the affected wallet and sign transactions.
- Assess device loss, backup loss and possible disclosure separately.
- Never enter recovery words, PINs, passphrases or private keys on websites, in chats or in support messages.
- Check the required recovery method before a reset; preserve your only working device.
- Identify the backup format, required number of shares and any additional passphrase offline.
- Check the replacement device's supported assets, networks and accounts in the official documentation.
- If the backup has been exposed, prepare a new wallet with new key material.
- Verify the destination address on the intended trusted device; account for a test transfer and fees.
- After securing access, use the manufacturer's backup check and store backups separately.
