Editorial assessment
As a hardware wallet, Tangem Wallet is a set of NFC cards instead of a classic stick with a display: the key is in the secure element of the card, transactions are confirmed via the iOS or Android app - the display is the smartphone, not the hardware. This is what differentiates Tangem from Ledger or Trezor sticks and from air gap touch devices; The concept is closer to keycards or other NFC cards, but with multi-card backup as standard instead of seed on paper.
Multi-chain including BTC, ETH/EVM and SOL is documented. Air gap in the QR sense is missing; the NFC tap is the signature moment. Windows, macOS and Linux are not supported - no operation without a smartphone. The firmware is only partially open source, the client is open according to its characteristics. If you lose all backup cards and don't have a BIP39 seed noted, the wallet is gone - that's what it says in the contra points and is not a theoretical edge case.
In terms of price, Tangem is below touch air gap devices and often in the range between cheap USB sticks and mobile nano models - the number of cards in the set drives the price. This is not a “cheapest wallet” promise, but rather the classification: little housing, but ongoing app dependency and card logistics.
Compared to BitBox or OneKey Classic, the device display is completely eliminated; opposite Ledger Nano X There is no Bluetooth connection to the stick because there is no stick.
Binding specifications and price proximity are in the characteristics table; this section does not replace them.
