Overview

Editorial assessment

As a hardware wallet, the Trezor Safe 3 is the USB entry of the Trezor Safe generation: Optiga Secure Element Claim, open firmware, Trezor Suite and SLIP39 in addition to BIP39. Safe 5 and Safe 7 offer touch and partly Bluetooth; Safe 3, the wired stick remains without a device battery.

Multi-coin including Solana is documented. Air gap is missing. iOS has limited support — official app, no full iPhone signing according to features; If you expect mobile iOS signing, compare Nano X, BitBox Nova or Safe 7. Bluetooth and NFC are missing. Small monochrome display confirms amounts on-device.

In the catalog the price range is around EUR 79 - between Nano S Plus and Safe 5. This is the RRP classification for the open source entry with Secure Element, not a quality judgment compared to Ledger. SLIP39 complements BIP39 - if you only know paper backup, read the suite documentation for Multi-Share before setting it up for the first time.

Opposite Ledger Nano S Plus shares entry price; Trezor advertises SLIP39 and open software, ledger with app ecosystem. Compared to BitBox02 Multi, both cover core chains and differ in origin and backup culture. Passphrase and SLIP39 are optional layers — those who enable them document recovery separately from the standard seed phrase.

If you're hesitant between Safe 3 and Nano S Plus, compare SLIP39 and Open Source against Ledger app breadth - both are USB entry-level devices with different software philosophies.

In Direct comparison Ledger Nano S Plus vs Trezor Safe 3 The form factor, connection and backup of the two hardware wallets are directly opposite - the basis for an objective comparison without an overall grade.

Specs, chains and price proximity are in the characteristics table - this text only classifies.
