Overview

Editorial assessment

The BitBox02 Bitcoin-only is a hardware wallet with pure BTC firmware on the same Swiss USB stick hardware as the Multi variant. If you don't need any other chains besides Bitcoin, you'll stay in this case; If you want Ethereum or ERC-20, you need the Multi or the newer Nova with a different radio profile. The Bitcoin-only line is therefore the narrowest SKU in the BitBox02 family, not another device.

Open source firmware and open client are documented areas of focus; Secure element and dual chip claims (CC EAL6+) are in the data sheet. Desktop and Android are supported, Bluetooth and iOS are missing. Transactions run via USB, backups via microSD or BIP39. Air gap in the QR sense is not provided. The display is small and monochrome; SLIP39 is missing. A device battery is not provided. Everyday life remains the wired signer on the computer or Android device.

In the catalog the price range is around EUR 149 - on par with the Multi because it is the same hardware, just with a narrower chain list. This is not a statement that Bitcoin-only is suitable for everyone, but rather the classification: less firmware area beyond Bitcoin, but no ETH path without changing devices. Shipping to DE/EU is documented in the characteristics.

Compared to the Multi, only the chain list decides, not the case; opposite Coldcard The air gap path is missing - here the classic USB stick remains without PSBT isolation.

In Direct comparison BitBox02 Bitcoin-only vs Coldcard Mk4 The form factor, connection and backup of the two hardware wallets are directly opposite - the basis for an objective comparison without an overall grade.
