Overview

Editorial assessment

As a hardware wallet, the BitBox Nova is the Bluetooth successor to the BitBox02 at Shift Crypto: still a USB stick with open firmware, but with radio and a documented iPhone connection. BitBox02 Multi and Bitcoin-only remain the cheaper cable versions of the same family; the Nova is aimed at users who want to combine open source and the secure element claim (CC EAL6+) with iOS without switching to the air gap segment.

Technically, keys remain on the device, confirmations on the monochrome display, backups via microSD or BIP39. BTC and ETH/EVM are documented, a Bitcoin-only variant can be selected; Solana is missing from the features. Desktop OS, Android and iOS are planned, Bluetooth complements USB. Air gap or QR workflows are not provided; NFC is unknown. SLIP39 is not documented. According to the characteristics, a device battery is not part of the profile.

In terms of price, the model in the catalog is around EUR 175 - above BitBox02 Multi and Bitcoin-only, below premium touch devices. This is the RRP classification for the radio successor, not a promise of a bargain. If you only use desktop and Android, you also pay for Bluetooth and iOS; Whether this is needed in everyday life remains a user question, not a quality judgment.

Compared to the BitBox02 Multi, wireless and iOS are added, but the signature model remains the USB signer without an air gap; Compared to Coldcard, the isolated PSBT path is missing, but ETH/EVM and iPhone connection are documented.

For comparison with other hardware wallets, it is worth using the characteristics table plus the comparison links at the end of the classification.
