Overview

Editorial assessment

The Ledger Nano Gen5 is a hardware wallet of the new nano generation with a touch display, battery, Bluetooth, NFC and Ledger Recovery Key included in delivery. Nano S Plus and Nano X continue to serve budget and mobile segments; Flex and Stax remain larger touch devices in different price bands.

Multi-chain including Solana is documented; Secure element claim with EAL6+ is the manufacturer's information. Firmware is closed, client partially open. Air gap is missing - unlike Keystone or Coldcard. The recovery key workflow belongs to the ledger ecosystem; SLIP39 is not documented. Touch operation does not change the Ledger ecosystem model: apps, firmware updates and recovery keys remain part of the overall setup.

In terms of price, Gen5 is above S Plus and typically in the range between Nano X and Flex - RRP in the features. Anyone coming from older Nano models should check the recovery key and touch controls separately; This page describes the Gen5 SKU from the catalog, not every legacy device.

Compared to OneKey Classic, Multi-Chain shares; Ledger relies on proprietary firmware and NFC. Opposite Trezor Safe 7 share touch, battery and Bluetooth; Trezor remains more open in its software, Ledger relies on recovery keys. Touch operation does not change the Ledger ecosystem model: apps, firmware updates and recovery keys remain part of the overall setup.

Recovery Key is a ledger-specific concept - before migrating from older Nano models, compare the recovery and backup path with the manufacturer's documentation, not just compare the price and display.

The chain list, connection paths and price range can be found in the characteristics table.
