Overview

Editorial assessment

As a hardware wallet, the Ledger Stax is the premium touch model in the Ledger series: large display, Qi charging, Bluetooth, NFC and multi-chain including Solana. Nano models and Flex serve more compact or cheaper segments — Stax is aimed at users who want maximum display real estate in the Ledger ecosystem, not entry-level budget users.

Firmware is closed, client partially open. Air gap is missing. Secure Element and CC-EAL claims are manufacturer information; The contra points say that EAL levels are not consistently documented in the sources - this is not a JMRKT assessment, but an indication of the source situation. iOS, Android and desktop OS are documented.

In the catalog, the price band is around EUR 399 — the top nano/touch segment at Ledger. This is the RRP classification, not a quality judgment NGRAVE Zero or Keystone. Qi charging is a convenience, not a security feature — premium price buys display and ecosystem, not automatically air-gapped or open source.

Compared to NGRAVE Zero, the premium price and touch are shared; NGRAVE relies on QR isolation instead of a permanent cable connection, Stax on Ledger Live. Compared to Trezor Safe 7, Ledger remains proprietary, offers NFC and wireless charging. Large display makes address verification easier, but does not replace the obligation to consciously check recipients and amounts.

If you compare between Stax and Flex, you trade display size and Qi charging for price - both remain in the proprietary Ledger ecosystem without an air gap.

In Direct comparison Ledger Flex vs Ledger Stax The form factor, connection and backup of the two hardware wallets are directly opposite - the basis for an objective comparison without an overall grade.

The characteristics table above and the pro/contra card next to it are used for objective classification.
